On Wednesday, the Finance Ministry announced it has canceled a public tender to select an agency to provide a communication campaign for the introduction of the euro in Slovakia. In its stance, the ministry said that after the publication of the announcement, it registered numerous signals from companies operating on the advertising and media markets attesting to the ambiguous interpretability of tender criteria. Most entities confirmed this stance also during the repeated market survey conducted by the ministry on May 7. Potential bidders also complained that some of the criteria seemed to be geared toward certain agencies. The ministry is interested in as great a degree of tender transparency as possible, aimed at unquestionable and unproblematic selection of a strong and experienced partner that can guarantee successful implementation of an efficient and high-quality information campaign. The ministry announced that the new public tender, which will take the information gained during the market survey into account, would be announced shortly.
The Finance Ministry officially announced the tender to select an agency to lead a communication campaign on euro adoption in early May. According to information published by the Official Journal of the European Union (EU), the cost of the information campaign is projected at SKK 134.5 million without VAT. It will be financed from the national budget, as well as from funds of the National Bank of Slovakia (NBS).
