The Christian-Democratic Movement (KDH) leader Pavol Hrusovsky stated on Saturday on Slovak Radio that his party would consider a cooperation with People's Party -- Movement for a Democratic Slovakia (LS-HZDS) as unacceptable. KDH will not cooperate with LS-HZDS, who is headed by Vladimir Meciar. Considerations about cooperation of opposition parties with LS-HZDS were sparked by the coalition crisis, during which LS-HZDS warned to leave the ruling coalition. Mr. Hrusovsky does not believe that LS-HZDS would change its behavior in any government. "It is not possible to govern a country with Vladimir Meciar," said Mr. Hrusovsky.
Mr. Meciar compared the current relation with Prime Minister and SMER-SD leader Robert Fico as a marriage of convenience. "We have to get on with each other," he said. He refused to comment into more details on the latest coalition crisis.
Mr. Meciar thinks that the former Agriculture Minister and LS-HZDS nominee Miroslav Jurena was a victim of two financial groups in the case of transfers of lots under the High Tatras. He refused putting in connection his name with Milan Balis, the co-owner of the company involved in the case, only because he knows this businessman.
