Average Interest Rate on Loans in Slovakia in May was 6.82 Pct.

In May, interest rates on loans provided by commercial banks in Slovakia were at the same level as in April, i.e. 6.82 percent. Interest rates on loans for non-financial companies reached 5.75 percent on average in the fifth month of this year, which is 0.02 percentage points less than in April. The average interest rate on household loans shrank from April by 0.03 percentage points to 8.12 percent, according to data from the National Bank of Slovakia (NBS).

The average interest rate on new loans taken out in May grew 0.01 percentage points to 7.07 percent. Non-financial companies took new loans at 5.67 percent in May on average, up 0.14 percentage points m/m. The average interest rate on new loans drawn by households rose 0.18 percentage points to 10.09 percent.

The average interest rate on deposits in commercial banks in Slovakia amounted to 2.079 percent in May. The interest rate on demand deposits of non-financial institutions was 0.921 percent and on demand deposits of households 0.503 percent. Interest rates on new deposits reached 1.904 percent on average. The interest rate on new demand deposits for non-financial companies reached 0.921 percent and for households 0.503 percent.
