Shops that employ up to five people are exempt from the duty to display prices in both the Slovak crown and the euro on all their goods ahead of the changeover to the single European currency in Slovakia. However, the prices in Slovak crowns and euros should be displayed on a price list, which should be visibly placed and easily accessible in the shop. The Economy Ministry informs that such exception does not concern cash register bills, on which the total sum of the purchase must be displayed in both currencies.
The duty to display dually the total sum on a cash register bill is valid for all entities. Calculations between values in Slovak crown and euro must be made according to the conversion rate and the total sum should be rounded mathematically to two decimals, which is to euro cents. Individual items of the purchase will be displayed in one currency, i.e. in Slovak crowns by the end of 2008 and in euros as of January 1, 2009.
