Prices of motor fuels continue to drop in the whole European Union (EU). Though this trend moderately slowed in the case of petrol, diesel prices are falling at a more dynamic rate. Slovakia's position in both the petrol and diesel charts remained unchanged. The Internet portal natankuj.sk reported that Slovakia remains sixteenth in the petrol price chart and maintained its twenty-sixth place on the diesel price chart.

Bulgaria topped the chart with the cheapest petrol. The average price of 95-octane petrol was SKK 32.49 (EUR 1.078) per liter there. Luxembourg led the diesel price chart with average price of SKK 34.88 (EUR 1.158) per liter. The average price of 95-octane petrol in Slovakia was SKK 41.15 (EUR 1.378 €) per liter as of August 11. A liter of diesel cost SKK 44.21 (EUR 1.468) on average.
When comparing petrol prices without taxes across the EU, Slovakia came in sixteenth with average price of SKK 19.08 (EUR 0.6333) per liter. The chart's leader, Bulgaria, thus had SKK 2.64 (EUR 0.0876) cheaper petrol per liter. Slovakia was fifteenth in the diesel price chart, excluding taxes, with the average price of SKK 22.65 (EUR 0.7518). Its diesel cost SKK 2.81 (EUR 0.0933) more than diesel in Bulgaria, being at the top of this chart.

As for prices including tax in the Visegrad Group countries and Austria, only Poland had more expensive petrol, by SKK 1.06 (EUR 0.0352) per liter. Slovakia has the most expensive diesel. The second Czech Republic has diesel SKK 1.62 (EUR 0.0538) cheaper.

With regard to fuel prices without taxes, only Poland had more expensive petrol than Slovakia, by SKK 0.20 (EUR 0.0066) per liter. Slovakia has the second cheapest diesel. Austria tops the chart. Its diesel cost SKK 0.91 (EUR 0.0302) less than in the Slovak Republic.
