Teachers in Slovakia will not have the status of public officials. At its session on Tuesday, the Slovak Parliament turned down an amendment to the Penal Code submitted by independent deputy Peter Gabura. He argued that if teachers belonged to the category of public officials, their protection against attacks could improve. He asked for this privilege for teachers of all types of schools and special educational facilities.
Parliament will not deal with a draft amendment to the parliamentary order, which was submitted by the opposition Christian-Democratic Movement (KDH) deputy Daniel Lipsic. He suggested that attendance of parliamentary deputies should be verified electronically, by their voting card. He argued that in this way, fraud with signing attendance sheets on behalf of other parliamentary colleagues would be prevented.
The parliamentary also dismissed a draft amendment to the law on income tax submitted by the opposition Slovak Democratic and Christian Union-Democratic Party (SDKU-DS) deputy Iveta Radicova. She suggested that the state should pay pension insurance also for pregnant women six weeks before the delivery date.
