Member of parliament for the opposition Slovak Democratic and Christian Union (SDKU-DS) and former Finance Minister Ivan Miklos thinks that the steps adopted by the incumbent government in economic policy are endangering Slovakia's ability to fully take advantage of euro adoption. "Everybody knows that responsible and competent economic policy and a flexible labor market will be decisive after euro adoption," he announced on Thursday at a conference on Slovakia's entry to the Eurozone, held in Bratislava.
Mr. Miklos said that the SDKU-DS fully supports Slovakia's entry to the Eurozone and is trying within its possibilities as an opposition party to contribute to people's broader knowledge about the euro. He simultaneously stressed that the party is refusing to bear responsibility for mistakes in economic policy and preparations for Eurozone membership made by this government.
