Prime Minister Robert Fico remains the most trusted politician in Slovakia, indicates a public opinion poll conducted by the MVK agency among 1,083 respondents at the turn of May and June. More than 42 percent of those polled trust Mr. Fico. President Ivan Gasparovic is the second most trusted politician (33.6 percent), followed by deputy chairperson of the opposition Slovak Democratic and Christian Union-Democratic Party (SDKU-DS) and a presidential candidate Iveta Radicova (18.4 percent). On the other hand, Robert Fico`s predecessor and the SDKU-DS head Mikulas Dzurinda tops the chart of the least trusted politicians with nearly 40 percent. He is followed by Slovak National Party (SNS) leader Jan Slota (36.8 percent) and chairman of People's Party-Movement for Democratic Slovakia (LS-HZDS) Vladimir Meciar (36.5 percent).
Over ten percent of respondents trust Jan Slota (15.3 percent), Interior Minister Robert Kalinak (14.1 percent) and Vladimir Meciar (11.8 percent). On the other hand, more than 10 percent do not trust the following Slovak politicians: leader of the opposition Hungarian Coalition Party (SMK) Pal Csaky (24.7 percent), Prime Minister Robert Fico (16.7 percent), former Finance Minister and SDKU deputy Ivan Miklos (14 percent) and head of the opposition Christian-Democratic Movement (KDH) Pavol Hrusovsky (11.6 percent). All the polled were asked to name three trustworthy and untrustworthy politicians.
