Zilina Develops Cooperation with Foreign Cities

The town of Zilina, the main centre of north-west Slovakia and one of the largest Slovak cities, would like to continue developing partner relations with new towns. "After establishing relations with Poland, Czech Republic, Slovenia, Belgium and Croatia, we would like to focus on Hungary, Austria and Germany," informed Zilina mayor Ivan Harman on Saturday.
Last weekend, representatives of Zilina municipality established new contacts with Slovenian town of Koper and Croatian town of Rijeka. Apart from cooperation in the field of tourism, education, culture and sport, representatives of the Slovenian town promised to share with Zilina the experience of their municipality with euro introduction, since Slovenia already adopted euro at the beginning of this year.
Representatives of Zilina municipality signed on Friday a declaration on partnership for the period 2007 to 2008 with the Chinese city ChangChun. Both cities confirmed by signing the declaration further cooperation in education, sports, science, business and trade.
