The Ministry of Labor, Social Affairs, and Family submitted for interdepartmental review its draft of a government regulation on Christmas bonuses to be paid to pensioners in 2007. This year, bonuses should range between SKK 1,500 and SKK 2,000 and should be paid in December of in line with the current law. Pensioners with pensions up to SKK 3,753 should receive bonuses amounting to SKK 2,000, while bonuses of SKK 1,750 should be paid to pensioners with pensions from SKK 3,754 to SKK 7,505 and bonuses of SKK 1,500 should be paid to pensioners receiving pensions from SKK 7,506 to SKK 11,257.
The draft regulation should increase expenditures of this year's state budget by almost SKK 1.65 billion. "It will apply to 1,029,323 pensioners to whom pensions are paid by the Socialna Poistovna social insurance provider, and to about 800 people who retired from the armed forces," states the Labor Ministry. A SKK 2,000 bonus should thus be paid to 29,700 receivers of old-age, early retirement and disability pensions. An additional 291,300 pensioners should receive a bonus of SKK 1,750 and the remaining 708,300 pensioners a bonus of SKK 1,500.
The government paid a Christmas bonus to pensioners for the first time last December. These were also paid in three amounts: SKK 1,500; SKK 1,750 and SKK 2,000.
