Slovak Prime Minister Robert Fico will file a criminal charge against leader of the opposition Slovak Democratic and Christian Union (SDKU), Mikulas Dzurinda. Fico told it a special news conference, held in Bratislava on Sunday. The reason is Dzurinda's accusation that the prime minister earned SKK 6 million on a speculative purchase of an eight-hectare land plot in Bratislava-Nove Mesto, registered as a vineyard. Fico labeled Dzurinda a liar and said he is through with him.
Fico said he has a document from the real-estate register proving that the land plot, which he has bought when he was an opposition deputy and had nothing to do with the Slovak Land Fund, is registered as a vineyard and not as a construction lot. Fico declared he will build nothing on the land plot and will only use it as a vineyard. He added that the opposition should be tough on the ruling coalition; however, it should not lie and do deceitful tricks like Mr. Dzurinda does.
